Welcome to Canyon Boxers history page!

We would love to share some of our love for our boxers with you. My name is Renee Brockman and I bought my first boxer in 1994. I was 21 years old and always wanted a boxer. Growing up in Pasco WA dad had bad allergies to dogs, so I could never have an inside dog. This meant boxers were out of the question.

First Christmas together At 21 and engaged to my husband Randy I found some boxer puppies for sale in Prosser WA. I didn't have the money at the time so Randy bought me my first boxer puppy for my birthday present. I took my puppy home to meet mom and dad and said "Please can I keep her in the house?" Dad fell in love with my puppy who I named Kinzey Kane. She never spent a night outside. Ironically dad wasn't horribly allergic to her, and even if he was he never would have admitted it. He loved her! I got married a year later to Randy and took Kinzey with me. Mom and dad missed her and continued to spend time with her.

Randy and I lived in a fenced yard duplex in Kennewick WA when we were first married. We both worked full-time and left Kinzey alone during the day. We thought she was lonely so I went back to Kinzey's breeder and asked her if she had any new puppies. She said "No but we have Kinzey's brother for sale." So we bought Duke to add to our family.

Boating together When Duke came home we quickly realized he wasn't much socialized and actually we thought he was quite neglected. We are pretty sure he was left alone out in a kennel and only used for breeding purposes occasionally. He craved attention so badly. There were other signs that he was not socialized. At 1 year old he still was not house broken. We worked with him and he turned out to be a wonderful dog.

We took our dogs everywhere with us. Camping, boating, to the ocean and even just for good old country drives.

After 3 years of marriage we decided to add to our family with a child. Reese was born July 7, 1998. He was the new joy to my dog's lives along with ours. Then, in 2001 we had our little girl Rivers. Sadly, Kinzey passed away about 6 months after Rivers was born. Duke lived another 6 months and died from kidney failure. We were so sad. Oh our house seemed so empty. We decided we wanted another girl boxer, but we wanted to learn about conformation, and getting a good show quality bitch. I talked to so many breeders, handlers, etc. but nobody had any puppies for sale. When you are a nobody looking for a show pup it's really hard to get one.

We were willing to pay but nobody would give us the time of day. We started reading and trying to learn more about conformation and the breed standard. I finally found a breeder in Spokane WA who would talk to me and had a litter of pups for sale. We drove up to Spokane and brought our Roxy home. She is a flashy brindle girl. I made a friend named Cheryl Stevens (Draymia Boxers) and began conformation classes with Roxy.

She is 2 years old now and has 2 points on her so far. A year ago we got a boy puppy from Cheryl. He is a flashy fawn boy and he just received his first point with Gary Steele at the Walla Walla dog show in May of 2005. We will continue to show both of our boxers.

I love the breed and want to share the love we have for our dogs with you.

God Bless!
